Português: Debruçar-se sobre livros centenários não nos permite acessar o mundo de onde vieram, a menos que consigamos traçar a história de suas formas de existência ao longo do tempo, ou seja, de suas diferentes vidas. Mas quantas vidas afinal pode ter uma obra? De acordo com Roger Chartier, a Brevissima relacíon de la destruycíon de las Indias, de Bartolomé de las Casas, por exemplo, tem sete vidas, referentes às sete diferentes edições publicadas em circunstâncias e espaços distintos entre os séculos XVI e XIX. E quando uma obra ganha outras formas de circulação, ao ser representada, adaptada, reescrita? Daí suas numerosas vidas podem garantir-lhe a posteridade ou mesmo a imortalidade. Em Mobilidade e materialidade. Traduzir nos séculos XVI e XVII, publicado no Brasil em 2020 pelas editoras Argos e EDUFBA, com tradução de Marlon Salomon e Raquel Campos, Roger Chartier oferece uma nova faceta de seus estudos realizados na Biblioteca da Universidade da Pensilvânia, onde tem atuado como professor visitante. Em seu livro intitulado La main de l’auteur et l’esprit de l’imprimeur, de 2015, Chartier apresentou análises das coleções consultadas nessa mesma biblioteca, a partir das quais destacou o papel do autor e do impressor nas significações adquiridas pelas obras. No livro recentemente traduzido no Brasil, são a materialidade e a mobilidade de obras que ocupam o plano central de sua investigação, sendo realçadas na própria organização do volume, que conta com cinco capítulos distribuídos sob as seguintes designações: Publicar; Representar; Traduzir; Adaptar e Epílogo: reescrever. |
