Summary

[edit]
Description
English: While I have a total of 9 videos featuring the one-of-a-kind An-225 on my channel, up to now there wasn't more than one showing a type of aircraft which is rather inconspicuous, yet a real workhorse, the An-26. But that number has just doubled ;)

Designed as a tactical transport plane, the An-26 has found its place in civilian aviation as a reliable, cost-effective freighter and has therefore become a common sight to Germany's #2 cargo airport, Leipzig/Halle (LEJ/EDDP). It should be mentioned that the An-26 is often critized for the low droning sound of it's engines, which makes it appear terribly loud to many, but as much as I sympathize with those who are jolted out of their sleep by it, to me as an aircraft enthusiast it's music!

The aircraft shown, is LZ-ABJ, an Antonov An-26B, which first flew in 1980 and has since been in service with 5 different operators, under just as many different registrations (source: http://russianplanes.net/reginfo/55289). It can be seen here taxiing to and taking off from runway 26L at Leipzig/Halle airport.
