Description
English: Annotated drawing of Greenwich Pier from the end of King Charles block

A rough sketch view westward, upriver, probably from a first floor window of the northern half of the Queen Anne Court when occupied by the Royal Naval Museum. The north end of the King Charles Court is on the left, the landward promenade of Greenwich Pier beyond the College railings, centre, various sailing vessels in the river, right, and what may be the bulk of the now demolished Great Storehouse of Deptford Dockyard, with its clocktower, in the distance.

The drawing is annotated with rough colour notes and is probably related in date to two larger ones, PAF6252 and PAG9855. The first of these is taken from the riverfront on the far side of the Pier promenade looking back towards the viewpoint of this example. It is much more informative on the detail of Greenwich Pier and is dated 16 September 1887, as is PAG9855, which is a study made on the Pier pontoon looking west. This smaller view is presumably of similar date.
