| Description |
The Anhalter Bahnhof is a former railway terminus in Berlin, Germany, south of Potsdamer Platz. Once one of Berlin's most important railway stations, it was severely damaged in World War II, and finally closed for traffic in 1952. Demolition begun in August 1960 but due to considerable public outcry the centre portion of the façade was allowed to remain standing. Het Berlijnse Anhalter Bahnhof is een voormalig spoorwegstation in de wijk Kreuzberg, ten zuiden van de Potsdamer Platz. Bij de sluiting en sloop van het station in 1960 bleef een deel van de façade van het oude station behouden. De naam komt van de Duitse regio Anhalt, die de treinen die er vertrokken doorkruisten. |
