| Description |
English: Aire valley west of Fairburn This shot was taken from the southern end of Fairburn village above the Ings looking in a westerly direction. In the foreground are the Ings, the first line of trees over the water marks the line of the 'Fairburn Cut'. The second line of trees in the middle distance mark the boundary between the River Aire and the Ings - the trees growing on colliery waste. Further distant are red brick houses forming part of Fryston village and in the left far distance are the chimneys and towers of what was Hickson & Welch chemical plant. The high ground right far distance are the northern flanks of the Aire valley rising toward Kippax. |
