English: Newsreels in which Dutch subjects of a certain week are presented.
Young sailors learn the trade from a seaman from the merchant navy aboard the training-ship 'Nederlanden' in Rotterdam. SHOTS: - commander(?) inspects the lined up sailors on deck; - the students practice making knots and lashings with rope on deck; - the students get lessons in flag codes and using a compass in a classroom(?); - masts and yards are explained to the boys by using a model sailing ship in the maritime museum; - aboard their own ship the boys climb in the rigging and wave.
Nederlands: Bioscoopjournaals waarin Nederlandse onderwerpen van een bepaalde week worden gepresenteerd.
Aan boord van het opleidingsschip "Nederlanden" te Rotterdam leren jonge matrozen het vak van zeeman bij de koopvaardij. SHOTS: - commandant(?) inspecteert de aan dek aangetreden matrozen; - de leerlingen oefenen aan dek met touw in het maken van knopen en sjorringen; - de leerlingen krijgen les in een leslokaal(?) in vlaggencodes en hanteren van het kompas; - in een scheepsmuseum wordt - aan de hand van een model van een zeilschip - de jongens uitleg gegeven over masten en ra's; - aan boord van het eigen schip klimmen de jongens in het want en zwaaien. |
