Summary

[edit]
Description
English: A rare tree This huge tree seemingly planted to mark the entrance to the lane which leads to Mynydd Ferddin Farm is a small-leafed lime. Apparently these have not been able to reproduce by seed for many centuries in the UK so what we usually find is survivors which grew from side shoots taking root next to mature trees. Mature trees are rarely found in this area. However there are numerous stretches of small-leafed lime growing as hedging and most of these are about five metres long. There are several other road or track junctions which have big trees like this one. Maybe they were planted as markers in the middle ages or earlier!
