English: Title: A fairly unusual double rainbow appears over the similarly unusual levee along the Arkansas River in Pueblo, Colorado
Physical description: 1 photograph : digital, tiff file, color. Notes: Explanations for this phenomenon are best provided by a meteorologist, but note that the order of colors is reversed in the two rainbows, one of which is always fainter than the other. The more defined of the two seems to descend upon the sketched head of the wise-cracking movie and television comedian Groucho Marx. His image is part of the long and eclectic mural on the levee walls that first appeared as whimsical graffiti in the 1970s and became a city tourist attraction, said to be the longest, if not the most artistic, in the world.; Forms part of: Gates Frontiers Fund Colorado Collection within the Carol M. Highsmith Archive.; Credit line: Gates Frontiers Fund Colorado Collection within the Carol M. Highsmith Archive, Library of Congress, Prints and Photographs Division.; Title, date and keywords based on information provided by the photographer.; Purchase; Carol M. Highsmith Photography, Inc.; 2015; (DLC/PP-2015:068). |

Image title | A fairly unusual double rainbow appears over the similarly unusual levee along the Arkansas River in Pueblo, Colorado. His image is part of the long and eclectic mural on the levee walls that first appeared as whimsical graffiti in the 1970s and became a city tourist attraction, said to be the longest, if not the most artistic, in the world. In 2015, the city began to remove the murals, not because of artistic sensibilities but because of repairs to the levee. It promised to allow new murals to appear once the repairs were completed. |
