| Description |
English: A cairn on Ladhope Recreation Ground This cairn sits on the former 13th fairway of Galashiels Golf Course. The course was reduced from 18 to 9 holes in 2008 and this area is no longer used as a golf course. As a boy, I was told that this cairn was built to deter any World War 2 enemy planes from making an emergency landing, but that seems unlikely. The hill in the distance behind the cairn is Buckholm Hill. |
