The 15th Punjab infantry recruited Mazhbi (‘devoted’) Sikhs, originally from the sweeper caste. Many were not provided uniforms, socks, or boots. They became renowned for their courage and bravery. His clothing and arms was most likely loot taken after Kaisarbagh was sacked.
