Nederlands: Achttien Soninké (of Marka, of Sarakolé) mannen en kinderen poseren met hun dorpshoofd voor een foto. In het midden het dorpshoofd, met een witte baard, in een oude, eenvoudige, traditioneel geweven katoenen bruine boubou, een traditionele muts en om zijn nek twee of drie gri-gris (amuletten). Een man op een fiets, een ander in een oude regenjas, een paar mannen in traditioneel geweven boubous, kinderen op blote voeten. Op de achtergrond traditionele lemen hutten met rieten daken, achter een eenvoudige muur van droge twijgen en boomtakken bomen. Regio Kayes (Eerste Regio), Mali, 1972.
English: Eighteen Soninké (or Marka, or Sarakolé) men and children are posing with their village chief for a photograph. In the middle the village chief, with a white beard, in an old, simple, traditionally woven cotton brown boubou, a traditional cap and around his neck two or three gri-gris (amulets). A man on a bicycle, another in an old raincoat, some men in traditionally woven boubous, barefoot children. In the background traditional clay huts with thatched roofs, surrounded by a simple wall consisting of dry twigs and tree branches trees. Kayes Region (First Region), Mali, 1972.
Français : Dix-huit hommes et enfants Soninké (ou Marka, ou Sarakolé) posent avec leur chef de village pour une photographie. Au milieu le chef du village, à barbe blanche, dans un vieux boubou marron en coton, simple, tissé à l'ancienne, un bonnet traditionnel et autour du cou deux ou trois gri-gris (amulettes). Un homme à vélo, un autre dans un vieil imperméable, des hommes en boubous tissés à l'ancienne, des enfants pieds nus. En arrière-plan, des huttes traditionnelles en argile aux toits de chaume, entourées d'un simple mur composé de brindilles sèches et de branches d'arbres.
