Description
Español: Carta de W[enceslao] Escalante (1852-1912) a Ovidio Lagos (1825-1891) enviada el 18 de abril de 1879 desde Buenos Aires. En ella manifiesta que la conciliación marcha adelante. Menciona que ha sido parte de la comisión que ha proyectado la unión de ambos partidos y hace referencia al acuerdo sobre las condiciones para los candidatos a presidente y vice. Luego relata algunos sucesos que habían transcurrido en los días anteriores, entre ellos la publicación de una resolución por parte de la Comisión Nacionalista de Delegados respecto al accionar de las provincias. Agrega la alarma que estos hechos despertaron en el Comité y las múltiples reuniones allí mantenidas hasta que finalmente se logró presentar el acuerdo patriótico de reconciliación. Menciona la conformación de una convención y su organización interna: la designación de representantes por partido y la elección de los candidatos a electores tanto en Buenos Aires como en el resto de las provincias, según resulte o no triunfante la conciliación. Señala que tanto el Comité Nacionalista como el Autonomista habían aprobado el acuerdo y que si bien se reunirían a debatir los candidatos, le sugiere como un hecho las candidaturas de [Carlos] Tejedor a la presidencia y de [Saturnino María] Laspiur a la Vicepresidencia.
