Nederlands: Restauratie van een deel van de vroeg-16e-eeuwse Nieuwstadfortificaties in Maastricht. In maart en april 2019 stortte een deel van de courtinemuur tussen de rondelen Haet ende Nijt en De Vijf Koppen in. Bij onderzoek bleken de muur ten oosten van de Poort Waerachtig en het aanpalende rondeel De Vijf Koppen instabiel. Om nieuwe instortingen te voorkomen werden bomen op de aarden wal aan de stadszijde gekapt en werd het met aarde gevulde rondeel van binnen uitgegraven. Na uitgebreid onderzoek gingen in oktober 2023 de herstelwerkzaamheden van start, waarbij van beide vestingonderdelen de buitenschil van Naamse hardsteen wordt verwijderd en, na inspectie van de mergelstenen binnenmuur, opnieuw opgebouwd. De blokken Naamse steen worden genummerd en zoveel mogelijk hergebruikt. |
