English: Mona Hanna-Attisha, MD, MPH, FAAP, is a dynamic physician, scientist, and public health activist who served as this year’s esteemed Alexander D. Langmuir Lecturer at the 68th Annual Epidemic Intelligence Service (EIS) Conference in Atlanta, Georgia. In her inspiring talk, Dr. Hanna-Attisha detailed her perspective and role in uncovering the Flint, Michigan water crisis and leading the recovery efforts. She drew on stories from her new book, "What the Eyes Don’t See: A Story of Crisis, Resistance, and Hope in an American City." She leads an innovative and model public health program as founder and director of the Michigan State University and Hurley Children’s Hospital Pediatric Public Health Initiative. She has testified before the United States Congress and was named one of TIME magazine’s 100 Most Influential People in the World for her role in exposing the Flint Water Crisis and leading recovery efforts. The annual EIS conference is hosted by CDC’s Center for Surveillance, Epidemiology, and Laboratory Services (CSELS), Division of Scientific Education and Professional Development (DSEPD). link.
