Deutsch: Zu sehen ist das heutige Mönchengladbach in einer Landkarte aus dem Atlas Bruxellensis von Christian Sgrooten (1532 - 1608) aus dem Jahr 1573. Zu sehen ist eine Stadtansicht von Mönchengladbach (Gelabeeck), die Niers bis weit hinter Wanlo (Wanloo) und der heutige Hardterwald zwischen Rheindahlen (Dalen) und Hardt (Opter Hardt). Gladbach ist in der Karte etwa zu südlich dargestellt und liegt versehentlich südwestlich von Rheydt (Reydt). Zu sehen sind außerdem Neuwerk (Nyewerck), Zoppenbroich (Zoppebrock), Horst (Haus Horst), Mülfort (Mylfort), Odenkirchen (Odekyrche), Güdenrayd (Güdderath), Zaer (Saarhof), Wickrath (Wyckrayd) und Wickrathberg (Bergh). Am Kartenrand befinden sich noch Erkelenz (Erkelant) und Dülken (Dulcken). Fast ganz Mönchengladbach gehört zum Herzogtum Jülich. Zoppenbroich, Giesenkirchen und Schelsen liegen im Kurfürstentum Köln. Erkelenz gehört als einzige Stadt den Spanischen-Niederlanden an. |
