雲崗石窟の外觀 （山西省）

この寫眞は、大同の西、三十支里のところにある雲崗石窟の外觀である。普通に、石窟または洞窟と呼ばれてゐるが、この窟內には千八百年前の北魏時代の美術が石佛となつて現存し近代人を驚かしてゐるのである。文帝の時代に沙門曇曜が、この地に石佛寺の建立をしたのがその創始で、百七八十年の日月を費して、窟內に石佛を刻したと云はれ、貴重な古代の美術品の藏である。支那事變に際し、關東軍はこの古跡の荒廢と佛像の散逸を恐れて保護を加へてゐるのを見ても、如何に貴重なものであるかが判るであらう。（印畫の複製を禁ず）
