傾ける、夕日を受けて僅に蔭ろへる長城の、淋しくも亦美しき姿よ。｜大長城の背景には、創建者始皇帝の名と、この砦を境として戰ひ續けた民族闘爭の歷史とはあれ、長城は永遠に存在すべき他の一つの意義、それ自身の形作る美的存在がある。磚壁や墩は傷しく崩れ落ちても、踏みつけた一筋の足跡にも長城の美しさは殘るのだ。｜（一九二八、撮影）（印畫の複製を禁ず）
