蒙古人の定住聚落

洮南の西北方、洮兒河［トールホー］の岸邊に見出でた蒙古人の郭村である。彼等本來の生活樣式は放牧漂泊、移動式天幕に居住するものであるが東部內蒙古も特に洮昂鐵道に近い漢人の蒙古地越墾の地域にあつては、蒙古の民族が著しく漢人化して、定住した多くの平房子［ピンフアンズ］が匪賊に備へた銃眼防臺と土壁とに護られながら集團してゐる。土造平屋根は寡雨な大陸型の建築を示すもの、附近に放牧の畜群は流石に蒙古を忍ばしめるものである。｜（一九二七、一〇、撮影）（印畫の複製を禁ず）
