喇嘛敎は佛敎の一派で、これが流行の本源は西藏であるが、古來政策的に利用されて、次第に蒙古や滿洲に弘通するやうになつた。｜蒙古に興つて支那に君臨した元では、忽必烈が西藏を征した後、喇嘛を使つて西藏の懷柔をやつた。それ以來この敎は蒙古に入り蒙古人の間に信ぜられるやうになつた。砂漠に等しい荒野の中に龍宮城の如く浮び出づる喇嘛廟をみる時、宗敎の力の偉大なるに驚かぬ人はないであらう。｜（一九、二七、一〇撮影）（印畫の複製を禁ず）
