Из предисловия автора:

«Выпускаемый трудъ мой ИЗЪ ВОСТОЧНЫХЪ МОТИВОВЪ будетъ посвященъ разсмотрѣнію преимущественно древне-египетской цивилизаціи и будетъ заключенъ въ десяти (приблизительно) выпускахъ, каждый размѣромъ въ 4 печатныхъ листа, формата in-quarto, — съ продолжающеюся въ каждомъ выпускѣ нумераціею страницъ. Изданіе это, результатъ многолѣтнихъ занятій, будетъ содержать нѣсколько сотъ изображеній, выражающихъ собою основныя точки зрѣнія древнихъ египтянъ и основные пункты ощущенія ими міра; причемъ изображенія эти не болѣе какъ въ числѣ десяти — двадцати повторятъ собою рисунки, находящіяся въ самыхъ обширныхъ исторіяхъ древняго Египта, какіе имѣетъ въ рукахъ своихъ западно-европейскій читатель.
