Summary

[edit]
Description
English: An ABC and primer book for Erzya people, created and compiled by Avksentiy Filippovich Yurtov (1854—1916, he was a philologist and ethnographist, and a priest of the Russian Orthodox Church), and published in 1884, by Kazan's Orthodox Missionary Society.
The book consists of three sections: 1) ABC book mixed in Erzya and Russian languages, for teaching Mordovian (Erzya) children, appended with two Erzya songs (with Russian translations) and a moral text; 2) Prayers in the Erzya language with parallel Church Slavonic translations written with Russian old script; 3) ABC Russian section.
There is a typograper's error in the numbering sequence of the pages: the page 68 (page 60 in this file) is followed by page 96 - evidently the number was rolled by typographers from 69 to 96; and the following pages keep the sequence started from 96.
The scanned pages of the book were provided by the Russian National Library, located in the city of Saint-Petersburg.
