'Assistance' is shown in the centre foreground and 'Pioneer' behind on the right hand side of the composition. The vessels are shown on icy waters and against a coastal background. They seem ready to depart since the sails are unfurled and some smoke is visible from the funnel of the steam tender 'Pioneer'. |
