Description
English: Original listing and sheet music here: https://musescore.com/user/36482158/scores/20239972?from=youtube_share Here we have a long-lost but excellent ragtime intermezzo, which was included in the Nora Hulse CD "60 Years of Ragtime Piano". I'd rate this one as one of my all-time favorite intermezzos, a light and happy piece. Bessie Boniel also co-wrote another intermezzo "Daphne" with J. Russel Robinson in 1911, and is credited as the story writer for three silent-era films. "Harlequin" was published in 1906 in New Orleans. Rosetta Bessie Boniel born 1883 in Louisiana was the sister of Eugenie Boniel (ref. your "Two-Forty March"). She wrote music for several plays. In 1906 she is mentioned as member of Harlequin staff. Not sure, but guess that might be a music/theatre group in New Orleans (local historians would know). Bessie was not married and died in New York in 1948 mentioned as musician.
