Pretty snazzy rag from the early jazz era, labeled as a fox trot. Published by the family business, Everett Publishing Co. in 1921. Mary Ruth Everett (1889-1925) was married to publisher Elmore Everett (1897-1972). Elmore suffered an injury as a young man that left him in a wheelchair, but that didn't prevent him from travelling all over America promoting the various songs he published and wrote lyrics for. At the time of this rag's publication they were living in Iron City, Alabama and they later moved to Dallas, Texas. Elmore's best-known score was "Alabama Sue", also from 1921. Mary Ruth married Elmore in 1920, her second marriage. She was also confined to a wheelchair like Elmore, had a sickly child presumed to be from her first marriage, where she was known as Mary Ruth Meyer. She was living in Brunswick, Georgia during the World War 1 era and wrote lyrics to songs, plus a book of poetry and a novelette. She died in 1925 at about 36 years old. (Thanks very much to Musescore researcher Erlingl for the bios.) Many thanks to Mitchy for finding and sharing this rare rag. I have posted the original score copy here: https://mega.nz/file/WFYnUTBQ#LUpYM9Y-5iBXk99MCsMNkv08AZc4dKoH6xs006KUZGo This is a reproduction of the original score but with many corrections and some reformatting. I have added voltas to the score for smoother playback and corrected many errors, mostly in the form of missing or incorrect accidentals and missing ties. Score #305 in my series "Women Ragtime Composers: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLWv_HHmWjvjVZnE2aBjiNbznXkmrtT5XD
