puzzled

[edit]

As a Canadian I am used to no copyright existing on public monuments and statues. When I was in Minnesota, I took a picture of a statue inbetween to highways and uploaded to wikipedia. The picture was taken down as apparently monuments are protected by copyright in the USA. So can we upload these pictures given the location of the wiki servers?

If it's a permanent installation (as is the case with the Trans Am Totem in Vancouver), then your picture is protected by Freedom of Panorama. :-) Braveheart (talk) 14:32, 1 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Please change the date: "To achieve that, an international contest will take place in September 2014. " — Preceding unsigned comment added by Fun8HY (talk • contribs) 22:36, 1 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

new listings?

[edit]

My one problem with using the historicplaces.ca website is that it doesn't list everything.

There are heritage items listed for example under the Ontario Heritage Act that don't appear on the historicplaces.ca website. They do appear in the Ontario Heritage Trust website, here: http://www.heritagetrust.on.ca/en/index.php/pages/tools/ontario-heritage-act-register . It has a search feature for many municipalities or towns that aren't listed in historicplaces.ca. I also see the Répertoire du patrimoine culturel du Quebec has a similar search feature, though they seem to have integrated them all into historicplaces.ca

Can we amend the uploader to recognize items under the Ontario Heritage Trust register? Seems strange to have to only use "monuments" that are in one register and not in another? Oaktree b (talk) 19:02, 6 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Oaktree b: You can still upload them, but you'll probably have to add the OHT register number manually. Not quite sure why HPC is missing items, I think they would be thankful if you pointed out the missing items to them :-) Braveheart (talk) 07:39, 8 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Contest or competition?

[edit]

I see on the project page "contest" and "competition". Which is it? There is a difference. See the relevant Wiktionary pages. Thank you --TallGuysFree (talk) 00:13, 1 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

It's closed anyway, same thing, moot point. Oaktree b (talk) 21:07, 10 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
