Book selection
[edit]What's the latest published information on this project? I've been following news on it for years now but maybe it was all in mailing lists.
Anyway, I came here to ask a question from Biblioteca europea di informazione e cultura: they asked me how the books for this partnership were selected. I remember the selection was made by BNF, but I don't remember the criteria: are you able to tell me more about it? Is there some lesson learn, e.g. as regards books which were most effective in attracting audience or editors in Wikisource and/or which made BNF most happy for their own goals? --Nemo 21:18, 2 October 2014 (UTC)

- No idea what is the latest published information on this project, sorry. I follow this page s:fr:Wikisource:Partenariats/Bibliothèque nationale de France where the stats are frequently update.
- I don't remember the specific criterias either, sorry again. I remember taht the « diversity of OCR quality » was one main criteria but it wasn't a very good one.
- A lesson learn is that the wikisorcerers should take part in the choice of the books (a bottom-up selection). It's far more attractive to proofread a book that you choosed/wanted than a book someone else choose for you. An other good idea is to selected short books (even if you don't want too, it's obviously easier to proofread a short book).

- I also don’t know how they were selected, but a criterion was the Public Domain status (the books were assumed to be PD, but we checked and found 3 (IIRC) which were still under copyright).
