@BMacZero: Is this still in progress? Eric Luth (WMSE) (talk) 09:29, 18 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Eric Luth (WMSE): Yes, in theory. There are still some collections I haven't done that contain good PD material; one of these days I'll have time to take care of them. There are also new files dropping into the PD every year, so I re-run on the new year. – BMacZero (🗩) 16:22, 18 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
This is great work. Thank you. Victuallers (talk) 07:45, 7 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

arthur churchill warner

[edit]

where is his collection on Wikimedia? I feel like lots of these should be public domain, like this self portrait. I'd love to go through his work and help upload them. Because of Bridgeman Art Library v. Corel Corp. these images are basically just reproductions and the property of claim loses value in my view. MonkeyBBGB (talk) 23:43, 27 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@MonkeyBBGB: Many of those have been uploaded, looks like I missed recording that on this page. See Category:Images from the Arthur Churchill Warner Photographs Collection. That particular image was missed because the date was not machine-readable; it's now here: File:Arthur Churchill Warner studio portrait, frontal view, probably between 1890 and 1905 (WARNER 118).jpg. I'll try some things to see if we can get more of them uploaded when I have a chance. – BMacZero (🗩) 02:06, 28 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you! Really appreciate the work you are doing here. Would love to learn more about how the bots work. MonkeyBBGB (talk) 02:10, 28 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@MonkeyBBGB: My code is on Github if you read code (e.g. uploader), though it's a bit of a mess in places and not really designed to be easy for other people to use. I'm happy to answer any questions about it. This bot downloads the web pages for each image and reads the appropriate data (dates, tags, etc), then uses that data to write the file description page and uploads the file, if it can confirm that it's old enough to be PD.
If I need any help putting dates in a format the bot can understand I'll also let you know. – BMacZero (🗩) 02:17, 28 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Updated Tags

[edit]

To whomever runs this bot,

I went ahead and updated the tags from 1923 to expired and any equivalents. If this messes up the bot, please let me know as that was not my intention. I was just trying to get a more accurate set of tags to reflect how the public domain is expanding. And this is being done in advance of Public Domain Day in a few weeks. Plus I really want this image of Buster Keaton to be uploaded. SDudley (talk) 18:36, 12 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Happy Public Domain Day 2024

Hi! Really excited for all of the images that are going to be uploaded this year! SDudley (talk) 23:42, 1 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@User:BMacZero Thanks for uploading so many of the Sayre works! I've been looking through them and they are pretty incredible. I greatly appreciate the work you do. SDudley (talk) 06:26, 3 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@SDudley: Thanks for the encouragement - and thanks for updating the PD tags (I missed the watchlist notification for your message about that). – BMacZero (🗩) 07:20, 3 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
