Agenda

[edit]

TECHNICAL DEVELOPMENT (draft prepared by Lodewijk)

[edit]

internal infrastructure:

  • (!) Coordination of the numerous volunteer initiatives on technical side.
  • (!) Adding sources to the database
  • (!) Maintaining the infrastructure of the database: Commons:Monuments database
  • Improvements need to be made on the database on the output side
    • Such as? -> this was suggested in Utrecht already, I just copied it. Part of it seemed to have to do with problems encountered at Mobile? The wlm.wikimedia.org site, then. This basically depends on what the mobile folks want to do.
  • API???
  • Run project management system (Project Pier): already happens at http://proyectos.floss-pa.net/index.php?c=dashboard&a=index&active_project=15&1366929036

Helping the countries (tools)

[edit]
  • Website metrics: an infrastructure like last year, that allows countries to measure their trafic real time and accurately.
  • Tracking the number of uploads etc real time, country specific. Example tool from 2012: http://toolserver.org/~emijrp/wlm/stats.php
  • (!) Running erfgoedbot scripts that assist processing of images effectively: adding categories, suggesting placement, fixing descriptions, adding metadata.
    • Need to talk with Multichill.
  • Create/improve/distribute a jury tool to make judging possible. 2012 tool: http://wlm.wmflabs.org/
    • Vadim status?
  • Redesign the blog layout in such a way that it is also readable by mobile, and some bugs are improved on.
  • A tool that helps identify invalid submissions and incomplete submissions (Platonides' tool from last year:
    • Would be easy to have it this year.

For the participants

[edit]
  • Coordinate with WMF on the mobile application
  • (!) Tracking the fixing of the Commons upload interface and coordinating with the WMF on that.
  • (!) Create a Monument Finder tool, including a map infrastructure that allows desktop users to find a monument easily by using search parameters and a map. Very basic version from 2012: http://toolserver.org/~erfgoed/toolbox/search.php
  • Tasks uncompleted in Project Pier

I have been checking some uncompleted tasks on Project Pier and have been working on updating the FAQ on Commons (see comments on Project Pier: Other tasks that need someone to take care of them are:

  • Best in Heritage 2013 (Croatia)
  • Write blogposts- country winners 2012, Missing countries:
  1. Belgium and Luxembourg
  2. Denmark
  3. Estonia
  4. Kenya
  5. Netherlands
  6. Norway
  7. Poland
  8. Romania
  9. Spain
  10. Sweden
  11. Switzerland

Notes

[edit]

We discussed the countries. Karthik and Romaine both did quite some work on that, but need to update that still in the google doc overview. We need to start publishing blogposts, but the layout is screwed up right now.
