Al Mac's Diner-Restaurant Fall River MA 2012 - This has been my favorite shot since day one. I love the colors, the timing of the shot, to me that speaks of mid-twentieth century America.
-
The Plaza New York - Love the composition, beautiful shot.
-
Chicago Theater - I like the framing and the people moving through the shot. I also like that they shot it at night, it helps to tell the story.
-
The Cabin Creek "Inn" - Great timing, really shows how someone waited for the right time of year to photograph this image.
-
St._Alexander_Nevsky_Chapel - Beautiful image, nice angles, good timing.
-
Henry House Hill - Beautiful composition, your eye follows gate and wraps around to the barn and house, keeping the viewers attention within the frame. Architecturally and historically a nice shot as well.

Amazing quality and resolution makes this a great documentary photo. I'd love to encourage this type of picture.
-
Edited or not, I like how the cabin pops out and yet the context (woods) is perfectly clear.
-
Interior shot of an unusual subject. Had to chose this as a nuclear scientist.
-
Love the maritime mood. The boat is placed perfectly.
-
Per Daniel Case's raking light, and the image that goes furthest into americas past in my set.
-
Caroll convinced me on sunday that we need something as iconic as a roundbard. And Illinois was my home for over 4 years.
-
Dramatic light, perspective and clouds make the building look majestic. Like the framing, free of distractions.
-
Classic shot, the wet pavement works for me, reaffirming my preconceptions about Vermont ;-)
-
Like the natural color and would like to see this example of Bauhaus-like american architecture on the list.
-
Dramatic colors and FOV. I'd expect this to do well in the finals.
-
Despite quality problems on the bright parts the is a nice example for american nature and widerness.
-
Love the timing and the sky in this image. Just dark enough to let the menorial stand out, but bright enough to create a dramatic mood.
