Using UNEP text on Wikipedia

[edit]

Please use these instructions to add text to Wikipedia articles, ensuring you use the template, otherwise the text you add may get deleted and it cannot be tracked using the metrics tool.

Attribution
[edit]

This page describes the process of adding open license text to Wikipedia. Since the publication is published by UNEP but the license is on Wikimedia, please fill in the fields like this:

  • DocumentURL = The URL for the publication on the UNEP website
  • License statement URL = The URL of the document uploaded to Wikimedia Commons

Currently you can only add open license text to English and Spanish Wikipedia.

Referencing
[edit]

When you use text from a publication please also reference it, use the URL of the publication on the UNEP website as the reference.

Writing tips
[edit]
  • Recommendations: if publication makes a recommendation e.g "We recommend..." please rewrite it to say "UNEP recommends...". It would be helpful if the reason behind the recommendation was given if possible e.g "UNEP recommends ... because it is a more sustainable fishing method".
