In many countries, UNESCO World Heritage Sites are exposed to major problems and threats: armed conflicts and wars, natural disasters, pollution,
mismanagement and uncontrolled activities. In Aghanistan, armed conflict led 2 World Heritage Sites to the Danger list. The aim of this contest is to document, inform, promote, and raise awareness, through photographies that illustrate these 2 Sites.
Photographies can range from general views of the sites to specific details, they can showcase architectural and natural elements, existing damages,
and human activity within the sites.
The contest starts on 28 August 2021 and ends on 15 November 2021, and the campaign continues until 31 December 2021.

Whindanger is a project by Wiki World Heritage, implemented in Afghanistan in collaboration with Kakar History Foundation and ARCH International.
The project aims to promote and raise awareness about UNESCO World Heritage Sites in danger in 34 countries,
through the creation of an interactive website using Wikimedia projects and following a participatory creation process.
The website content will be mainly generated from Wikidata. As to content creation, it is through organizing writing workshops and photography contests
in the target countries.
