How do I upload a new version of an existing image?

This sounds like a dumb question but I've spent over an hour on your help pages, Wikipedia's help pages and Google so please don't come down on me too hard.

How do you upload a new version of an existing image? I've made a minor change to a couple of dozen pixels in an image and I wanted to upload the modified version.

Wikipedia's image upload help page says I have to do it from Wikimedia Commons which makes sense since you're different websites. I created an account here and went to the page and can't find any links along the lines of "upload new version". There's a tab on the top that says "edit" but it's just for the text on the description page, not for the image itself.

I tried using the upload wizard but it seems to be just for new files, not updates to existing files.

I'm at a loss. I wonder if you need be approved as an uploader to see the "upload new version" link, but since it's a different account rom Wikipedia seemingly the only way to build up a background here is to upload brand new images. I have no desire to clutter your database with images of questionable value so if I need a background before I can make edits then I'm stuck in a Catch-22... but I'm jumping to conclusions.

TL;DR: How do I upload a new version of an existing image?

Ben Arnold (talk) 01:57, 2 January 2014 (UTC)

UpWiz doesn't let you do that and you need to be autoconfirmed which you are as soon as your account at Commons is 3 days old and you didn't trigger an abuse filter. You can see your account creation date at Special:CentralAuth/Ben Arnold. For uploading a new version, please stick to COM:OVERWRITE. After you are autoconfirmed just use the link Upload a new version of this file, which is located directly below the File history section on each file description page. Hello there! I'm an extremely new user to Wikipedia (editing-wise, that is, I've been reading it for years) and I'm afraid I made a mistake when uploading a file. I uploaded a photo of Rosalind Russell (seen here: http://ia.media-imdb.com/images/M/MV5BMTI0NTA4NTI2N15BMl5BanBnXkFtZTYwNDE4NjQ2._V1_SX640_SY720_.jpg) and attached it to the infobox on her Wikipedia page. However, it seems the file has been deleted. I apologize for any infraction that I might've made, but I'm just curious, does that photograph count as public domain? Other, later pictures of Russell (screenshots from her films) have been posted on her page, and they've been marked as public domain. One in particular, a photograph of her with Cary Grant in His Girl Friday, says on its page that it's public domain because it was taken between 1923 and 1968. Shouldn't the same apply to this photo?

Also, I found this on a page for photograph of Audrey Hepburn, would this apply to the picture I uploaded?

"Additional source information: This is a publicity photo taken to promote a film actor. As stated by film production expert Eve Light Honathaner in The Complete Film Production Handbook, (Focal Press, 2001 p. 211.):

"Publicity photos (star headshots) have traditionally not been copyrighted.

Since they are disseminated to the public, they are generally considered public domain, and therefore clearance by the studio that produced them is not necessary."

Nancy Wolff, includes a similar explanation:

"There is a vast body of photographs,
including but not limited to publicity stills, that have no notice as to who may have created them." (The Professional Photographer's Legal Handbook By Nancy E. Wolff, Allworth Communications, 2007, p. 55.)"

Again, I'm very sorry for any mistakes I might've made when uploading that photo.

Thanks! — Preceding unsigned comment added by HildegardJohnson (talk • contribs) 17:37, 2 January 2014‎ (UTC)

If either {{PD-US-no notice}} or {{PD-US-not renewed}} applies, then it should be safe. In certain other circumstances, publicity photos first published before 1978 in the U.S. might also be OK; you might ask User:We hope, who knows more about the details of that... Help!

I have a question. I want to upload this image, but it's copyrighted. I want to know if this image can be counted as fair use. The link has an image I will use for the Wikipedia page "The Next Step (2013 TV series)". The image is a picture of the cast. I want to know if I can use the image. The image is non-replaceable as it shows the cast in character. The author is Family Channel. Please answer. Thanks. CanadianDude1 (talk) 20:18, 4 January 2014 (UTC)

Short answer: Fair use is not permitted at Commons. C.f. COM:L. Anything else can be evaluated at the local project (e.g. wikipedia) you want to use the file in. -- Rillke(q?) 20:54, 4 January 2014 (UTC)
Can you please explain that to me? Thanks. CanadianDude1 (talk) 23:35, 4 January 2014 (UTC)
Short answer is don't upload it here at Commons at all; instead upload it at en.wikipedia. There are places on English-language Wikipedia where you can ask about the rules there... AnonMoos (talk) 02:35, 6 January 2014 (UTC)

In this condition i am suppose to provide link of wikimedia.org

— Preceding unsigned comment added by Haidervu (talk • contribs) 12:52, 15 January 2014‎ (UTC)

  1. Because the photos have been previously published, and your site contains no indication that the content is free, you'll need to send in a licensing consent declaration to our permission archive before uploading anything here. Alternatively, you can add a free licensing statement on your website, upload the files and tag them with {{Licensereview}}. In either case, please be sure to remove the very intrusive watermarks from the images before uploading them here, as those unfortunately make the photos practically unusable for educational purposes.
  2. You can use all files on Commons that have been uploaded with a legitimate free copyright license (provided that you comply with the licensing terms) or valid public domain rationale. See Commons:Reusing content outside Wikimedia. LX (talk, contribs) 22:31, 15 January 2014 (UTC)

Question on uploading from Flickr

On the website of Flickr, there is this picture on National Tulip Day[1]. The info statesː "This photo is Safe". Can someone explain me please how I can upload this picture to Commons? Thanks, Btba (talk) 18:17, 18 January 2014 (UTC)

I don't know where you see the "safe" part, but that's irrelevant. What is relevant is that the photo is free, which it is. The information you need is on Commons:Flickr files, particularly Commons:Flickr files#Uploading images. LX (talk, contribs) 20:03, 18 January 2014 (UTC)

Uploading deleted file

I have a file that got deleted, but I don't know why! Assuming that it was just dropped somehow, I tried to reupload it, and got the message "There was another file already on the site with the same content, but it was deleted." This is not helpful! Even changing its file name doesn't help! Is the problem due to line widths or something like that? The file can be seen at http://www.jpaulmorrison.com/graphicsstuff/FBP_Simple.png TIA Jpaulm (talk) 16:35, 5 January 2014 (UTC)

It appears that the right place to post this query is on the OTRS Noticeboard - I have now done this, including some additional information which I eventually found in the Commons upload log - see https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:OTRS/Noticeboard#Trying_to_reload_an_image_that_was_deleted_from_an_article ... Apologies for double posting! Hopefully one of these avenues will be productive! TIA Jpaulm (talk) 18:25, 5 January 2014 (UTC)

Actually, the appropriate place would be Commons:Undeletion requests. I took this post as an undeletion request and have restored File:FBP - Simple network.png (which was deleted as lacking permission), as there is no permission needed for such a simple diagram even if you were not the original author. --Rosenzweig τ 18:41, 5 January 2014 (UTC)

Sorry to drop by; I have the same issue. I got first larger donation, but we were not able to process OTRS on time and pictures were deleted. Now will we start again with 51 pictures, with smaller set - but some files are reecognized. Since I rename them every time, I don't have a clue what were original pictures names.... Can this file control be avoided in a way? --ModriDirkac (talk) 22:57, 9 January 2014 (UTC)

Actually, I think the files are recognized by filehash, not just by name. Probably need to ask an admin... AnonMoos (talk) 17:21, 10 January 2014 (UTC)
I thought the same; anyway, I cropped files slightly and uploaded them then successfully ;) --ModriDirkac (talk) 20:07, 10 January 2014 (UTC)

Interrupted upload

I was uploading 1st Communications Maintenance Squadron.png and four other files. After entering information for the files, I received a message that I had failed to provide a required field for two images. I then departed the screen unintenationally. When trying to start over again with this file, I was told it already exists on Wiki Commons. However, I can't locate it to modify it (It is not in the category I listed, and the licensing information is a subset of the ones offered on the upload wizard). Lineagegeek (talk) 20:40, 22 January 2014 (UTC)

Files that you've uploaded are in your log. You can click through to the file description pages there and edit them, but it looks like you already know how to do that, and they generally look OK. The file you mention above is actually named File:1 Communications Maintenance Squadron.PNG (note the File: namespace, no "st" and the capitalized file suffix). LX (talk, contribs) 22:26, 22 January 2014 (UTC)
Thanks. Looks like most of my problems stemmed from trying to pipe the category I was putting it in so that it would appear in a logical sequence. I see now that has to be done after the image is uploaded. --Lineagegeek (talk) 16:46, 23 January 2014 (UTC)

Uploading higher resolution versions of images already accepted as being in public domain

Hi

I am a newbie as a contributor but I have benefited from using Wikimedia Commons over the years. My specialist area of interest is WWII. From time to time I identify images that are already on Wikipedia Commons but in another location, be it on the internet or otherwise. They are sometimes of higher resolution or better quality than the images on Wikipedia Commons. These are images that are identified as being in the Public Domain because they are more than 50 years old in the case of Crown Copyright expired, or were created by a Federal employee in the case of US images. I have more than a dozen such images that I could upload. I have a few questions:

What is the correct process for uploading such files? Do I need to start from the existing file page of the smaller resolution? is there a naming convention for the file names I should use?

I notice that many of these files have originally been uploaded by user W.Wolny who specialises in this area. Would it be best to refer to him first? (I am afraid I haven't yet figured out how to directly communicate with him.)

The origins of the new files are often obscure. They may be on Flickr, for example, with no other antecedent information. Yet they are clearly the identical to an image to that is already accepted on the Commons - I am not talking about images where there may be grounds for supposing that they are slightly different. Is it necessary to have any more antecedent information in these cases?

many thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lockeyear (talk • contribs) 10:30, 22 January 2014‎ (UTC)

Some concrete examples of Commons files and higher-resolution versions you're intending to upload might help the discussion. In general terms: If you find a higher-resolution version of a public domain work on Commons that is clearly the result of the same digitisation process, I'd suggest uploading it as a new version of the existing file under the same filename. If the files differ at all in terms of colour balance, cropping, scanning artefacts or other similar aspects, upload it as a separate file and use the other_versions= field in the {{Information}} template to link the different versions to each other. As for the sourcing of the files, the main concern is that it must be possible to verify that the original work is in the public domain. For this purpose, a source that provides one particular digitised version and enough information to establish that it is in the public domain will typically suffice for confirming that any other resolution is also in the public domain. If the higher resolution version is different (for example, if it has had digital restoration work performed), it might be a different story, though. LX (talk, contribs) 15:37, 22 January 2014 (UTC)

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. I have some way to go in familiarising myself with the system here. I will post a couple of examples soon.

Lockeyear (talk) 20:27, 22 January 2014 (UTC)

I have 'replaced' https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File%3AThe_Arctic_Convoys_A14890.jpg and https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File%3AHeinkel_over_Wapping.jpg.

Hopefully there is nothing contentious about these classic images which are widely available on the web. Any other comments on things I should consider are welcome but LX answer was pretty comprehensive about the issue. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lockeyear (talk • contribs) 21:01, 22 January 2014‎ (UTC)

File:The Arctic Convoys A14890.jpg looks uncontroversial to me. Your version of File:Heinkel over Wapping.jpg should have been uploaded as a separate file in my opinion, because while it's got a higher resolution, the top and the bottom of the photo have been cropped out, and the photo is significantly lighter in colour. LX (talk, contribs) 22:19, 22 January 2014 (UTC)

Many thanks LX that helpful in pointing to the issues I need to consider.

CC By-SA + GFDL

Hi,

I uploaded via Wikipedia since this is my first time, then came over to commons. In their upload options they recommended CC By-SA + GFDL, but I see most people here don't use GFDL for images (as far as I can tell), and that GFDL isn't suited for photos and makes it difficult for people to use my image.

Can I just revoke this part of the license by editing self|GFDL|cc-by-sa-3.0|migration=redundant to self|cc-by-sa-3.0|migration=redundant ? Any problems in doing so?

Thanks Harshmustard (talk) 15:15, 24 January 2014 (UTC)

Free licenses are not revocable, so no. The reason GFDL is being phased out and abandoned by more and more uploaders is that it's impractical for reusers, but if you're fine with offering your work under a CC-by-sa license, there's not really a disadvantage to you in also offering it under the GFDL in my opinion. If you'd like to steer reusers in the direction of the CC license, you could change the order in which you list them. LX (talk, contribs) 15:34, 24 January 2014 (UTC)
OK, thank you. So they can choose which licence they use? I guess that's good enough for me, I thought together they might combine and have to both be used to make a stricter CC-by-sa or something, and there might be a revoking exception as it's still CC-by-SA. It's a bit strange WP offers it as the default.
Oh yes "You may select the license of your choice." Ha, I thought that was directed at me -_-' Harshmustard (talk) 17:03, 24 January 2014 (UTC)

Uploading an alternative version of existing image

I have downloaded an image from Commons and cropped it to make it more suitable for use as a thumbnail on other Mediawiki projects. I want to upload the cropped version to Commons as a new file. Are there templates etc that I should use to indicate its relationship to the existing image? --Ross Burgess (talk) 06:49, 17 January 2014 (UTC)

The main one is {{Extracted from}}, but others may be appropriate in certain specific circumstances ({{AttribSVG}} for SVG, etc.). AnonMoos (talk) 11:45, 17 January 2014 (UTC)
Many thanks for the guidance. I've used {{Extracted from}} to upload File:Marc Almond cropped.jpg. --Ross Burgess (talk) 14:26, 17 January 2014 (UTC)
Please note that cropping someone else's photo doesn't make it your own work and doesn't make you the author. I've cleaned up the file description with corrected information. You may wish to use tools:~luxo/derivativeFX to ensure the information is correct on similar uploads in the future. Thanks, LX (talk, contribs) 20:31, 17 January 2014 (UTC)
Many thanks for sorting this out. I'm surprised that I didn't seem to be able to find anything in the existing help and faq pages explaining the process.--Ross Burgess (talk) 11:29, 18 January 2014 (UTC)
I realise that our help pages can be a bit of a jungle sometimes, but DerivativeFX is mentioned on Commons:Upload tools, and it's also presented as an option at Commons:Upload (although these days, users are pointed at the Wizard by default, which isn't as helpful for anything but the most basic of upload scenarios). It's often hard to anticipate where those less familiar with Commons might look for specific bits of information, but anyone can edit the help pages, so now that you know the answer, please be bold and insert it where you expected to find it. Cheers, LX (talk, contribs) 12:39, 19 January 2014 (UTC)
I did as you suggested last night and attempted to use DerivativeFX to upload a cropped version of File:Planning minister Nick Boles MP giving his keynote speech Housing The Next Generation.jpg to be called File:Nick Boles MP cropped.jpg. I got a message back saying "Your file Nick_Boles_MP_cropped.jpg is going to Wikimedia:Commons. User:Bilderbot will add at 02:00 a notice about this new derivative file to the original file(s)." but the new file has not appeared, and there's no such notice on the original file! Any suggestions?" --Ross Burgess (talk) 16:57, 20 January 2014 (UTC)

Uploading a new version of a photo (removed red eyes)

Hi,

I wanted to use the following photo Habu at ISF 2011 03 in the Wikipedia article for Yoshiharu Habu, but the original had red eyes. So, I downloaded the original, removed the red eyes using Picassa, and uploaded the new version of the photo. I thought I did everything correctly, but now I am not so sure. Can anybody tell me if I made any mistakes? Do I need to add Template:Retouched picture to the original page. Thanks in advance - Marchjuly (talk) 00:02, 19 January 2014 (UTC)

It looks fine to me. Often when you modify an existing file, you should upload the result under a separate name, but in this case, I think your changes qualify as minor technical improvements according to Commons:Overwriting existing files. You don't need to add {{Retouched picture}} to the file description, but it certainly wouldn't hurt to do so. Cheers, LX (talk, contribs) 12:23, 19 January 2014 (UTC)
@LX: Hey thanks for the reply. I did add {{Retouched picture}} but decided to self revert because I wasn't sure if it was needed and because I wasn't sure what to put for "orig" (Parameter 3) (the file names for the original and my version are the same). Thanks again - Marchjuly (talk) 13:35, 19 January 2014 (UTC)
The orig= parameter is optional, and in this case it would make sense not to use it. LX (talk, contribs) 13:39, 19 January 2014 (UTC)
OK thanks. I will add it. - Marchjuly (talk) 21:12, 19 January 2014 (UTC)

Hi Wikimedia,

I am a 27 years old freelancer photographer. My name is Massimo and i live in Australia. As per email below, I am quite interested in participating to the wikipedia\wikimedia project, with fresh, original content. The pictures i am talking about have all been taken my me in different areas of the World ( Europe, USA, Australia manly ). My Website is www.diarypictures.com. Maggie, Senior Community Advocate, said to speak with you guys about the policies and copyright rules in regards to pictures and contribution to Wikipedia ( please refer to the below email ). All I ask is to have a credit/referral within the details of the published picture itself, as per here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:26_-_New_York_-_Octobre_2008.jpg - "Author : Martin St-Amant " .

Could you please explain how the Wikipedia \ Wikimedia policies work and be a little bit more specific about the copyright rules ?

Regards

Massimo

G'day Massimo, and thanks for wanting to share your work! I think Maggie has already done a good job explaining the basics, but I'll go over some of the issues that professional photographers in particular tend to encounter when contributing to Commons.
The most important thing you need to know about Wikimedia Commons is that just like the text that people have contributed to Wikipedia, anyone can take content from Commons and use it (as is or with modifications) for whatever purposes they want, including commercial purposes. If you only want your work to be used on Wikipedia, or only for non-commercial or educational purposes, or only in unmodified form, we can't host it.
As a contributor, you can stipulate that reusers have to attribute you as the author and that they have to make any modified versions free for anyone to use in the same manner. This is determined by the license you choose when uploading. You can specify how you want to be attributed (for example, your name and the address of your site), but you cannot insist on a specific placement of the attribution (for example "adjacent to the image"). Attribution of images used in Wikipedia is normally done on a file description page reached by clicking on the image, as in the example you mentioned. Other users may put the credit at the bottom of the page, in a image credits section (commonly used in books), in a byline, or in end credits (commonly used in films). Of course, just like when you publish an all rights reserved photo on your website or elsewhere, there is no guarantee that some people won't just grab your file and use it without attribution, but doing so with a work published under a free license is just as illegal as doing it for a work with all rights reserved, so you can still go after them.
The photos you upload should be free from visible watermarks. Watermarks make photos much less usable, and since anyone is free to modify works uploaded here, watermarks are likely to be cropped or cloned out anyway.
Although your works are of a high quality, we can't guarantee that they will be used in any particular Wikipedia articles, because each language edition edition of Wikipedia is its own project, separate from Wikimedia Commons.
Finally, when contributing professional photographs, particularly if they've been published elsewhere (such as on your site), you may be asked to confirm via e-mail that you are actually you (to make sure that people don't register accounts in the names of photographers who are not willing to share their work – unfortunately, that happens).
I think that covers the most important issues. Before you can upload anything, you'll need to create an account. Then, just follow the guided upload process, which will ask you how you want to be attributed and what licensing terms you want to apply. If you have any questions along the way, just come back here and ask. Cheers, LX (talk, contribs) 16:30, 22 January 2014 (UTC)

Deleting a photo of me uploaded by someone else

How can I delete (replace really, with an updated version) a photo of myself which was uploaded by another user?

Specifically, I want to delete this file: File:Roderick MacKinnon 2007.jpg and I want to replace it with this file: File:Roderick MacKinnon, M.D..jpg

— Preceding unsigned comment added by PotassiumChannel (talk • contribs) 20:56, 23 January 2014‎ (UTC)

I assume that's what you tried to do in this edit. That's not how you do it, and the result is that the file description claims that you created the photograph that was actually taken by Hannes Röst, so I've reverted that edit.
We don't normally delete good, freely licensed photographs of notable people. Even if there are more recent photographs available, Wikimedia Commons is a media repository with the goal of having a broad range of illustrations available. We also don't like to dictate which particular illustration is used by the individual Wikipedia editions and other Wikimedia projects, but you can see a list of where File:Roderick MacKinnon 2007.jpg is used on the file description page under the File usage on other wikis heading, and then you can edit those articles to point to the new photo. Be sure to update the captions as well. Cheers, LX (talk, contribs) 11:34, 24 January 2014 (UTC)

Update; delete the old file

I remember that earlier it was possible to update an uploaded file. I no longer knew how to do this, so I uploaded the updated file again under the name File:Agni Parthene Notation Basic.pdf, but could not delete the old files File:Agni Parthene - Notation.pdf, File:Agni Parthene Notation.pdf and File:Agni Parthene Notation Melody Chords.pdf. How is this possible? - With kind regards, Martin Bachmaier --DrMartinBachmaier (talk) 13:58, 20 January 2014 (UTC)

The uploader requesting deletion of unused content added within the last seven days falls within our speedy deletion criteria, so you can simply edit the file description pages and add {{speedy|Uploader request; superseded by [[:File:Agni Parthene Notation Basic.pdf]]}} to them.
As for uploading a new version of a file, see Commons:FAQ#How can I upload a new version of a file? LX (talk, contribs) 15:17, 22 January 2014 (UTC)
Many thanks, LX, I did this and got the announcement: "This media file may meet the criteria for speedy deletion. The given reason is: Uploader request; superseded by File:Agni Parthene Notation Melody Chords.pdf"
So it seems that what I did was correct, and I hope that these files will be deleted. --DrMartinBachmaier (talk) 11:05, 24 January 2014 (UTC)
It's strange: Now I see the following remark under the file history: "Upload a new file" and wonder why I haven't seen it before? So I think, I no longer will face problems in uploading a new version. Thanks, LX. --DrMartinBachmaier (talk) 11:05, 24 January 2014 (UTC)
You've actually referenced the files themselves in your speedy deletion tags. The idea was to point to the version you wanted to keep. The reason you didn't see the "Upload a new version of this file" link is probably that your account was too new. Your account needs to be at least four days old and have at least ten edits before that shows up. This is to prevent vandalism. LX (talk, contribs) 11:20, 24 January 2014 (UTC)
Sorry, I thought you made a mistake in your answer when naming the version I wanted to keep, and I "corrected this in your post (one should not do this, sorry; I countermanded it). But I see that everything has worked as I wanted.
My account here is not as young as as you think, but I uploaded nothing for a long time. Perhaps this was the reason? I actually work under the name bachmai, and mainly in the German Wiki. As I wanted to register for Wikimedia a few years ago, I had problems with my username bachmai, so I took the current name. Having two names is not the situation I want. --DrMartinBachmaier (talk) 12:20, 24 January 2014 (UTC)
I see that your account was registered in 2012, but I think you just had too few edits here on Commons. Edits on other projects don't count towards autoconfirmed status (which is what you need for that link to show up). User:Bachmai exists here on Commons, but has no contributions, so if the only problem is that you've forgotten the password, you should be able to file a usurp request. LX (talk, contribs) 12:49, 24 January 2014 (UTC)
Yes, an usurp request would be best, howver, not clear to me how to do this. --DrMartinBachmaier (talk) 19:40, 25 January 2014 (UTC)

Hello,

I am currently working on an article about a French fashion designer, however my account has not yet been confirmed and I cannot upload an image which I would like to use in my article. Can anyone halp me regarding this issue.

This is the image: http://en.vogue.fr/uploads/images/thumbs/201402/f2/yiqing_yin_nomm__e_chez_l__onard_1535_north_382x.jpg

You can upload files as soon as you have an account, but you can't upload non-free photos you found on the Internet. Please read Commons:Project scope/Summary to find out what this project is all about. LX (talk, contribs) 22:04, 27 January 2014 (UTC)

Approval of image use by owner

Hi,

I was asked to create a Wikipedia article for a research scientist about a particular subject of research. See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Contour_boxplot

Unfortunately, several figures in this page were deleted because I was not the original creator and did not establish copyright sufficiently. The scientist who created it and asked me to create the article does not have a wikipedia account and does not want to have to go through the uploading process himself. Is there a simple way he can give approval to use the images after I have uploaded them?

Please see Commons:OTRS. LX (talk, contribs) 06:59, 28 January 2014 (UTC)

I made a scanner image of the Hands-On Electronics Magazine cover, March/April 1986 issue, which featured my product, "The Silencer Guitar Amplifier". I uploaded my commons image and edited the "Hands-On Electronics" Wikipedia page. Someone complained that the image was an obvious copyright infringement, and my image was deleted. What can I do? Wikipedia also says that I need to have a confirmed account to upload an image under any of the other copyright types, but my account is not confirmed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jongordo1 (talk • contribs) 18:30, 27 January 2014‎ (UTC)

Right, you can't upload non-free magazine covers to Commons. If you cannot identify the legitimate copyright holder(s) and obtain their permission to publish their work under a license that allows anyone to use it in modified or unmodified form for any purpose, including commercial purposes (which seems unlikely), you cannot upload it here. If the particular language edition of Wikipedia that you intend to use the file in allows non-free content with reference to fair use provisions, you may be able to upload it locally to that project. For questions regarding that, please ask at the Wikipedia edition in question. LX (talk, contribs) 22:16, 27 January 2014 (UTC)
Jongordo1 -- You actually do not hold the copyright to a magazine article about a product you manufactured. If the magazine used some photos that you supplied to them, then it might be OK to upload them here, but the photos need to come from you, not from the magazine... My Photo was deleted

I uploaded a photo titled layne-johnny_bw.jpg and it was deleted because it was assumed I, Johnny Bacolas, didn't upload the photo. To be clear, I uploaded the photo and I shot the photo with a timer on a polaroid camera. I still have the original polaroid. Please fix this so I can upload it again and add it to the wiki page. Thank you. Johnny Bacolas--Juliusbear007 (talk) 19:52, 29 January 2014 (UTC)

If you are indeed Johnny Bacolas, then I apologize for nominating your images for deletion. To verify this, would you be able to follow OTRS procedure at Commons:OTRS#Declaration of consent for all enquiries? Thanks for understanding. Nymf (talk) 20:15, 29 January 2014 (UTC)
