You're leaving out some necessary steps. Where is the "abdul haque chowdhury" pic that you want uploaded located? The URL, for example? We need to know what its copyright status is... AnonMoos (talk) 19:45, 21 December 2012 (UTC)

I assume you mean the file you uploaded, File:আবদুল হক চৌধুরি।.jpg. You may have taken the photograph yourself, but this seems to be a photograph of a printed photograph. You need to clarify the source and author of the printed photograph, or it will need to be deleted. Rd232 (talk) 20:15, 21 December 2012 (UTC)

To the best of my knowledge, there's no way to do this within the Wizard. You have to do it after uploading, possibly by copying and pasting the blank template from the template:photograph page. Rd232 (talk) 15:34, 23 December 2012 (UTC)

How do I link an uploaded image to a wikipedia article?

Hi, I am a wildlife photographer, I would like to start uploading files in Commons as free contribution for the relevant Wikipedia articles on the animals. Guaya Guaya (novela reggaetón) es el primer texto que recupera el ritmo (flow) de la música urbana de origen panameño en una narración literaria. Problem with Uploaded Image

I uploaded this image but the default preview doesn't display properly. The 800x532 preview shows only the white question mark in blue square in the transparent window. When I select other sizes, they do display correctly. When I try to use this image in an info box, it doesn't resize to the value specified. I tried uploading it again but that didn't help. This problem is only fore "some" users. (I can see the image fine). Deleting the page won't change anything. Just be patient a bit. --McZusatz (talk) 10:33, 25 December 2012 (UTC)

Uploading a cropped version of an existing file

I would like to use an existing file in an article on Wikipedia, but in a cropped version. I have cropped it on my (Mac) computer using Preview, but I don't know how to tell the upload wizard that all the rights information is already on the uncropped file, and to associate the two versions with each other. There is more than one way to do:

• You can use https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:Upload&uploadformstyle=basic and copy-paste the whole description of the source file into the text box of the cropped file. (Afterwards you can link them to each other in |other_versions= )
• You could use https://toolserver.org/~luxo/derivativeFX/deri1.php?lang=de (which does the process semi-automatic)
• Or you could use the cropbot (which also does the cropping semi-automatic)

I'm cropping a png, so I can't use cropbot. I'm trying to use derivativeFX. I'm on the page https://toolserver.org/~luxo/derivativeFX/deri3.php?lang=en and I don't know what "destination filename" means.  Destination filename doesn't exist. is not an error. It says that the new name is free. Would be great if you provided us with a link to the source file, so we can have a look at the author information. I think that is some general problem with DerivativeFX just select your edited file again and uplaod again on the next page. --McZusatz (talk) 18:49, 27 December 2012 (UTC)

I uploaded another cropped (by me) version of an existing file, destination filename File:View on Broadway, New York, from Robert N. Dennis collection of stereoscopic views cropped.png. A copyright license is a way for the copyright holder of a work to specify who may use their work and how they may use it. So to obtain a license for an image, you'd have to ask the copyright holder. The copyright holder is usually the work's author, which means the person who created the work, such as a photographer or painter. If you could tell us what image do you have in mind and who created it, we might be able to provide a more specific answer. —LX (talk, contribs) 21:18, 23 December 2012 (UTC)

Ok, I've some pictures taken from various episodes of "There She Is!!" .It's an korean animated series by SamBakZa. It's very famous and I write the page with its history on Wikipedia: l'enciclopedia libera. I have uploaded this images on Wikimedia but after a short time has been erased. Most likely, you will not be able to get the copyright holder to release those pictures under a free license, so you should not upload them. Note that the Italian Wikipedia does allow some non-free uploads, which may include stills from television like these. See it:Wikipedia:EDP per it.wiki for details. However, you will have to upload them directly at Italian Wikipedia (it:Special:Upload), rather than here at Wikimedia Commons. See meta:Non-free content for other projects that allow this.
