  • March 2019: CIS-A2K has contacted RIWATCH in 2019 to build a GLAM partnership and open up their contents on Wikimedia websites, but due to COVID-19 pandemic and resulting nation-wide restriction of movement, further communication was postponed.
  • January 2022: The communication has been resumed again after the second wave of the pandemic subsided.
  • February, 2022: CIS-A2K approaches West Bengal Wikimedians User Group (WBG) formally to help facilitate and execute the partnership. WBG accepts the request.
  • March 2022: A joint field-visit by CIS-A2K and WBG was conducted at RIWATCH.
    • Kime Rilla, a resident of Itanagar and a close associate with RIWATCH, has been given Wikimedia training and assigned as Wikimedian-in-Residence for the partnership.
    • Vijay Swami, the executive director, has released all RIWATCH digital contents under CC-BY-SA 4.0 license.
    • Wikimedian-in-residence has started uploading files.
    • A local tribal organization named Idu Mishmi Cultural & Literary Society has been engaged to develop Idu Mishmi language corpora and grammar for future incorporation on Wikidata.
    • A scanner has been couriered to RIWATCH to scan its manuscripts and publications for future.
    • Idu Mishmi language has been added on Lingua Libre.

Responsibilities

For this partnership,

  • RIWATCH will
    • provide their expertise and guidance to help document and identify their online and offline collection,
    • provide food and accommodation to the Wikimedian-in-Residence,
    • provide laptops, camera, space to work, internet to the Wikimedian-in-Residence.
  • CIS-A2K will
    • plan and coordinate the project,
    • remunerate the Wikimedian-in-Residence,
    • provide a scanner to RIWATCH for scanning of manuscripts and books,
    • provide the financial support for travel, stay and other expenses during the visits
  • West Bengal Wikimedians User Group will
    • provide technical support to the Wikimedian-in-Residence,
    • train the Wikimedian-in-Residence regularly,
    • conduct regular meetings with the Wikimedian-in-Residence to follow-up the work and provide feedback.
  • As Wikimedian-in-residence, Rilla will
    • organize RIWATCH collections, audios, videos, images etc.
    • sort suitable files to upload in co-ordination with RIWATCH
    • upload sorted files to Wikimedia Commons with proper title, detailed description and relevant categories.
    • use relevant files to different Wikimedia projects increasing the value of the articles
    • create data about museum artifacts along with customs, cultures and traditions of the tribes of the region.
    • attend regular meetings with West Bengal Wikimedians User Group to address any issues, work on feedbacks and get relevant trainings to continue and enrich the quality of her work.
    • submit regular reports to update about the progress.
