  •  Support There is no sunshine but the image seems not unterexposed. Also I can not see that it would be tilted. -- Spurzem 18:43, 5 November 2020 (UTC)

File:Our_Lady_of_Peneda_sanctuary_01.jpg

[edit]

  • Nomination Our Lady of Peneda sanctuary in Viana do Castelo district, Portugal. --Tournasol7 17:24, 26 October 2020 (UTC)
  • Promotion
  •  Oppose Good compostition but not sharp enough and level of detail to low, especially at the rocks. --Augustgeyler 10:44, 1 November 2020 (UTC)
  •  Support I disagree with Augustgeyler's high requests: The rocks are not the object of the photo and no photo with different planes, unless you use focus stacking, which is not requested yet, can have all parts in focus. The composition is great. --Moroder 06:07, 3 November 2020 (UTC)
  •  Support Christian Ferrer 07:46, 4 November 2020 (UTC)
  •  Support Maybe the noise reduction has been used a bit too much, but overall the level of detail is acceptable. It may be that a photo taken at a different time of day would have produced a more interesting lighting. --Smial 10:21, 5 November 2020 (UTC)
Total: 3 support (excluding the nominator), 1 oppose → Promoted   --Augustgeyler 11:21, 7 November 2020 (UTC)

[edit]

  • Nomination Fall colours, Uhl valley upstream of Baragram, Himachal, India. Elev. 2,400m (7,874') --Tagooty 15:51, 29 October 2020 (UTC)
  • Decline
  •  Oppose DOF issues . only small parts of the frame (foreground) in focus --Virtual-Pano 18:36, 29 October 2020 (UTC)
  •  Support Sharp enough for me. --King of Hearts 02:25, 30 October 2020 (UTC)
    Thanks for the feedback.
  • ✓ Done I've applied mild selective sharpening to the mountains and skyline and uploaded a new image. The intent of this image is to highlight the subtle fall colours in this region where we have mostly evergreen trees, grass and bare rock. We do not have the vast stands of deciduous trees common in Europe and N. America. --Tagooty 04:52, 30 October 2020 (UTC)
  •  Weak oppose As this image is titled with and intended by the idea of showing the hole valley in contrast to that tree and not the opposite way, there should have been much more sharpness in the background. --Augustgeyler 09:55, 30 October 2020 (UTC)
  • @Augustgeyler: The title and intent is the fall colours, in a small part of the Uhl valley. The fall colours include 4 elements: the striking tree in the foreground, the yellowish brown grass along the foreground, the reddish vines growing on the evergreen trees on the right, and the rust brown grass on the distant mountain slope. As I'd written in my comment above, the fall colours here are subtle! The Uhl river valley is about 80-100 km long and this image shows only 6-8 km. I've further sharpened the background, please see the revised image. --Tagooty 02:09, 31 October 2020 (UTC)
  •  Comment Please revert your last sharpening edit. That made the background unnatural. I like unsharp backgrounds, as they are a clear decision for the foreground. For me the valley is just to prominent to be a blurred background. Please stand with your argument. As you told me, you intended an unsharp background there is no need to intensely sharpen it. Perhaps you will find many other reviewers following your argumentation. --Augustgeyler 09:55, 31 October 2020 (UTC)
  • ✓ Done Reverted, thanks for the advice. --Tagooty 15:37, 31 October 2020 (UTC)
  •  Neutral I changed my vote to neutral. It is too tricky for me, making a clear decision. Hoping for more reviews! --Augustgeyler 11:47, 2 November 2020 (UTC)
  •  Oppose The scenery is full of artefacts, it clearly looks overprocessed.--Peulle 21:31, 2 November 2020 (UTC)
  • @Peulle: I would appreciate if you could indicate or mark the artefacts. Thank you. --Tagooty 01:46, 3 November 2020 (UTC)
  • You understand that these artefacts are everywhere? They're not in one particular location. Looking at the forest and the mountains in the background, they cover the entire scene like compression artefacts.--Peulle 07:28, 3 November 2020 (UTC)
  • The "artefacts" are in the original RAW file, not due to over-processing or compression. The trees on the background mountain are a bit blurred owing to DoF with focus on the foreground (discussed in comments above). --Tagooty 15:00, 3 November 2020 (UTC)
  •  Neutral I would support the very first version, which was "good enough". --Smial 10:26, 5 November 2020 (UTC)
Total: 1 support (excluding the nominator), 2 oppose → Declined   --Augustgeyler 11:22, 7 November 2020 (UTC)
