For about a year the Free Software Foundation has been asking for comments on the GNU Simpler Free Documentation License. This is the license we will most likely migrate to with the next update of the GFDL. This being the case it is important that we make sure that the license is as well written as possible. Existing suggestions may be found at m:GFDL suggestions. Further suggestions are requested bellow.

At the present time I would suggest out priorities are getting rid of the remaining invarant sections (disclaimers and copyright notices) and the requirement to include a full copy of the license with every work.Geni 02:41, 5 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Part of the reason for requiring the license text rather than a simple declaration is because rights that you are unaware of are useless. The licenses is effectively free to include online. Do you think it would be reasonable to still require the license be preserved in some situations (like online redistribution) where it's trivial to do so but relaxing the requirement elsewhere? --Gmaxwell 02:45, 5 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
