- FreePD – CC0 Free to use Music
- Choral Public Domain Library – Freely licensed choral sheet music.
- MusOpen – Classical music performance recordings under various Creative Commons licenses or dedicated to the public domain, including sheet music. Download requires account. Free account is limited to 5 files per day.
- Mutopia – A collection of public domain sheet music. Some MIDIs available.
- Internet Archive: Open Source Audio – Freely licensed music of all kinds. Warning: Licensing is mostly unclear.
- Classical Piano Midi Page – Classical Piano MIDI files under Creative Commons Attribution Share Alike 3.0 license
- ccMixter – A library of CC-licensed music and remixes. Warning: ccMixter is going the way of paid music licensing. License search not possible.
- Dogmazic – Mainly French language music sharing site without a license search, seems to be mostly CC BY-NC-SA.
- Jamendo – CC-licensed independent music. Warning: Jamendo is going the way of paid music licensing. License search not possible.

- Free Music Archive – Warning: Not all music is licensed under free distribution license. The advanced filter helps.
- Open Game Art – Music under various licenses with main focus on games but usable nonetheless.
- Scott Buckley – Composer & Arranger – CC BY 4.0 licensed music
- zero-project – CC BY 3.0/4.0 licensed music
- SampleSwap – CC BY 3.0 / CC BY-SA 3.0 licensed music
- TeknoAXE – Warning: this page relies on the CC license choice on YouTube but has the potential to be used accidentally, as YouTube is not educating or prioritizing freely licensed works.

- Newgrounds.com – CC-licensed music
- Soundcloud and YouTube have search filters for CCBY licenses. However, you need to check if the uploader has indeed the rights to license the audio under that license. When uploading to Commons using video2commons you may need to uncheck "video" so only the CCBY-licensed audio is uploaded.
- Openverse is a free media search engine that can search audio files (currently: Commons, Jamendo, Freesound)
