Discussion
- Should probably speedily granted--DieBuche (talk) 18:48, 17 August 2010 (UTC)
It's not entirely clear what O (bot) does besides the daily edit, but I don't mind if the purpose of this bot is to split off any activities other than the daily edit from O (bot).
A thing to add to O (bot)'s daily edit might be the touch run suggested at User_talk:O_(bot)#O_.28bot.29.
When removing {{ImageUpload}}, you might want to run the general fixes as well. Docu at 05:16, 18 August 2010 (UTC)
- I've listed what the bot does on its userpage. That should have been clear enough.
- A little history: the original bot was originally approved under File Upload Bot (Vishwin60) back when what is now batch uploading was called the file upload service. After a while, however, I realised that I also needed to use the bot for what it is currently doing, so a name change was approved shortly after. When my username was changed to what it is currently, the bot's name changed along with that.
- This new bot (the one that is being discussed here) is just that, a clone. This means that no tasks will be split from the original bot; the daily VP edit will still always be done by the original bot. Rather, this bot is to be used when the other one is occupied on a job (like the rather time-consuming removal of {{ImageUpload}}) and another job can be fulfilled, allowing better use of resources. This proposed setup is similar to BotMultichill and BotMultichillT. --O (谈 • висчвын) 06:15, 18 August 2010 (GMT)
- I also think will be good idea to combine removal of {{ImageUpload}} with other clean-ups (such as internationalization). How about request such functionality form other bots owners? --EugeneZelenko (talk) 14:39, 19 August 2010 (UTC)
- My bot, DodoBot, does a bunch of internationalization and general cleanup tasks (it also removes {{ImageUpload}} if it happens to be on the page). It runs under AWB. Would you be interested in the source code (the regular expressions I use)? Otherwise, Slobot and Emijrpbot are also approved for fairly similar tasks, so you might want to talk to the operators of those, they both use pywikipedia. - EdoDodo talk 20:11, 21 August 2010 (UTC)
It looks like users are confused about this bot. This bot is supposed to be a supplement to my existing bot when that is busy, i.e. run another job. I don't know how this turned into a discussion about one job I'm currently running. --O (谈 • висчвын) 14:48, 22 August 2010 (GMT)
- Yeah, this should probably be speedily approved as a clone of an approved task. However, it would still be nice if you added localization and cleanup fixes to the task that removes {{ImageUpload}} so that the edits aren't all so trivial. - EdoDodo talk 15:00, 22 August 2010 (UTC)
- Is there a thread were we can look at the bot's initial approval? Seems odd the someone would approve a bot just to remove {{ImageUpload}}.-- Docu at 02:26, 30 August 2010 (UTC)
- Commons:Requests and votes/File Upload Bot (Vishwin60)
- It was renamed twice to accommodate what the bot does today (removing {{ImageUpload}} is part of the "Does text replacing as requested" listed on the bot's userpage). Again, this is a discussion about creating a copy of the current bot, in case I need to run two, most likely, different jobs at the same time. --O (谈 • висчвын) 19:46, 31 August 2010 (GMT)

If still needed, flag as a clone. If not, close. --Schlurcher (talk) 18:52, 27 September 2010 (UTC)
