Bot's tasks for which permission is being sought: As requested here, this bot should rename categories that use the nonstandard "in countries" instead of "by country" and edit their contents correspondingly. Doing this for the category tree mentioned in the request should require 217 page moves and 1277 edits.

Automatic or manually assisted: Automatic

Edit type (e.g. Continuous, daily, one time run): One-time run

Maximum edit rate (e.g. edits per minute): COM:BOTS suggests a maximum of one edit per five seconds, so I guess I'll do that.

Bot flag requested: (Y/N): Y

Programming language(s): Python

Discussion

Thanks for pinging. Category moves can be requested at COM:CDC. --Steinsplitter (talk) 11:37, 17 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
This task requires a large number of category moves. Even if an admin did it, a bot would still be useful to identify the categories that need to be moved. KSFT (talk) 14:31, 17 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
CDC is for large category moves. --Steinsplitter (talk) 14:38, 17 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Actually this bot could prepare list of categories to move. But it'll be not frequent task. --EugeneZelenko (talk) 15:26, 17 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
And why is a bot needed for preparing lists? That could be done via http://quarry.wmflabs.org/ --Steinsplitter (talk) 15:33, 17 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I withdraw my nomination—Quarry and CommonsDelinker is probably a better solution. KSFT (talk) 16:51, 17 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
