Discussion
  • Please clarify task. As far as I could judge from bot's contributions, it import Structured Data captions.
  • This does seem against Wikipedia Copyright terms: The descriptions on Wikipedia are contributed under a CC-BY-SA lincense, whereas all structured data is under a public domain equivalent CC-0 license. Whereas single instances might be reasonable, I think it is different for a mass import. Have you considered this? --Schlurcher (talk) 06:55, 17 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, but I think your task cannot be done. Content on wikipedia is copyrighted, whereas structured data is effectively copyright free. You are indirectly removing the license under which the content was contributed to Wikipedia. We had a similar discussion before, if we can import file descriptions from the image description on commons. This discussion also concluded that it should not be done on large scale due to license considerations. Let's see what others say. --Schlurcher (talk) 07:52, 18 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Schlurcher: Okay I understand the licenses difference, but we can import the caption that same as Label or the pagename and it's licensed under the public domain, is that correct?--جار الله (talk) 05:28, 30 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I cannot answer this as I am not sure what you try to import. Could you give an example? --Schlurcher (talk) 13:01, 12 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Schlurcher: you can see the last few edits as an example. thanks.--جار الله (talk) 04:16, 15 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@جار الله: Thanks for making some few more edits. I think I understand what you are now doing and I like the idea. Would the following be an accurate description of the updated task:
Import image descriptions as used in Wikipedia and Wikidata to Commons Structured Data image captions, if a) no current caption exists in Commons and b) the image description is identical to the page title the image is used on. (Import Structured Data captions falling outside of the CC-BY-SA license.)
My humble opinion would be that the page title itself is not part of the copyright of any author contributing to the page. So I would see no concerns with this. The additional cross-check with the page title also ensure that the picture really describes the lemma. If you agree, please consider to update the description above or make changes to reflect your intention. --Schlurcher (talk) 09:06, 15 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Schlurcher: I update the description of the task and if there any condition must be removed I will remove it. thanks.--جار الله (talk) 06:26, 16 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@جار الله: Looks good for me. I have no further comments at the moment. Let's wait for some further input from others. Please consider to import other languages as well. --Schlurcher (talk) 08:52, 16 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry if that may sound strange, but, if your task is not only intended for arwiki, can you please also make some test edits for any language that uses latin character set? That would help me a lot to understand where which text comes from. --Krd 08:40, 19 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Krd: Done.--جار الله (talk) 06:55, 22 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Looks good to me. I've set the bot flag now, please make more test edits, just to see if anything unexpected occurs. --Krd 09:00, 22 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Approved. --Krd 03:57, 26 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
