Bot's tasks for which permission is being sought: The primary tasks I intend to perform with this bot are large batch uploads, standardization and cleanup of image descriptions (for example to use the correct image source template or import metadata from the original source), license validation, batch image editing, categorization, and automatic tagging of images needing cleanup or review. Until now I've been performing these under my primary user account.
Automatic or Manually Assisted: Fully automatic and unsupervised, with intermittent review.
Edit type (e.g. Continuous, daily, one time run): Continuous, as long as it has work to do.
Maximum edit rate (eg edits per minute): Depends on the task - about 1-5 per minute for uploads, up to 20 per minute for tagging or image description cleanup.
Bot flag requested: (Y/N): Yes
Programming Language(s): Primarily C# using DotNetWikiBot, maybe also Python.

- What kind of images do you plan to upload with bot? --EugeneZelenko (talk) 15:59, 1 August 2009 (UTC)
- The current batch upload is the New York Public Library uploads in Category:Robert N. Dennis collection of stereoscopic views. Past uploads I've done under my own account are listed at User:Dcoetzee/Batch_uploads. Dcoetzee (talk) 22:00, 1 August 2009 (UTC)
- I think will be good idea to upload such images without bot flag, so they may be noticed in recent changes for additional human processing.
- Did somebody try to contact NYPL before uploading? http://www.nypl.org/legal/ contains some interesting conditions.

- These uploads are with the permission and cooperation of the NYPL. I have no trouble with leaving the bot flag off, but the upload rate is rapid and continuous for a period of weeks. Dcoetzee (talk) 23:01, 2 August 2009 (UTC)
- It's great to hear that this is colloboration project. However images are often not categorized by subject, so it'll be good idea at least to place them to uncategorized images category if you'll upload them with bot flag. --EugeneZelenko (talk) 14:41, 3 August 2009 (UTC)
- I coordinated with a couple other editors on categorisation - the images are placed in a temporary category hierarchy under Category:Temporary categories for images from the New York Public Library. I've placed this entire category under Category:Uncategorized images. Dcoetzee (talk) 19:18, 3 August 2009 (UTC)

- Looks good to me so far, no problems with a botflag. Huib talk 17:08, 1 August 2009 (UTC)
