Bot's tasks for which permission is being sought: Adding SDC statements to Wiki Loves Monuments photos, starting with photos from Sweden.
In particular, the two types of statements:
- participant in (P1344), e.g. participant in (P1344) -> Wiki Loves Monuments 2011 in Sweden (Q105201214). There is a large backlog of WLM photos missing participant in statements. I have created Wikidata items for all the yearly editions of the competition in Sweden, so those will be used rather than more general ones like Wiki Loves Monuments 2011 (Q8168264).
- depicts (P180), e.g. depicts (P180) -> Sättunahögen (Q30021486). The Wikidata ID's are derived by matching the ID's in the monument templates, such as Template:Fornminne, to Wikidata.
I have made a small test run:
- File:Sätunahögen_Östegötland_2.jpg : (diff)
- File:Skegrie_dösen_i_vinterskrud.jpg : (diff)
- File:Södertälje_105_1.JPG : (diff)
- File:Sotenäs_Tossene_58-5_ID_10161200580005_IMG_7037.JPG : (diff)
- File:Hornborg.jpg : (diff)
- File:Fröjel_kastalruin_Gotland.jpg : (diff)
- File:Östra_Torsås_28_1_ena_sidan.JPG : (diff)
- File:Torsa_stenar_(Raä-nr_Almesåkra_45-1)_0717.jpg : (diff)
- File:Gudhems_klosterruin_(Raä-nr_Gudhem_72-1)_vigvattenskål_2519.jpg : (diff)
- File:Södertälje_104_1_Detalj_3.JPG : (diff)
- File:Fornåsa_6_1_text.jpg : (diff)
- File:Invalidmonumentet_009.jpg : (diff)
Later on, we (WMSE) would like to extend this to WLM photos from other countries. How many depicts (P180) statements can be added will obviously depend on how many monuments already are on Wikidata with correct ID's, but we should be able to add participant in (P1344) to all photos.

- I think depicts should be added in semi-automatic way to allow to set properly prominent flag. --EugeneZelenko (talk) 15:20, 8 February 2021 (UTC)
- The prominent flag is hard to set automatically since the identifier of the cultural heritage object can be used even if the image is just of a detail of it. SImilarly the identifier can be used on a vista of multiple buildings. Extracting the depicts statement should always be valid, but that doesn't mean even more precise statements couldn't be added manually afterwards. /André Costa (WMSE) (talk) 08:54, 2 March 2021 (UTC)
- Good to see that this is picked up again. Forgot a bit about it. Wiki Loves Monuments 2011 in Sweden (Q105201214) is no replacement for Wiki Loves Monuments 2011 (Q8168264) so please add both. Reminds me to have one of the bots clear out this backlog. As for the depicts statements. I've been adding these for a while, see User:ErfgoedBot/Depicts monuments.js for the configuration. I think I used it to get to a million depicts (P180) statements. Sweden was complicated so I'm quite happy if you can pick up that part. I would add a tracker category on {{Fornminne}} like on {{Rijksmonument}} to see which files still need attention. Please also add location of creation (P1071) and don't forget to do a null edit to trigger the page update. You might find other useful things in my code. - Is the null edit only to trigger the update of the tracking category? /André Costa (WMSE) (talk) 08:35, 16 February 2021 (UTC)
- The null edit will trigger the rendering of the page so any templates based on SDC will also be updated. Take for example File:Jean Louis Bezard - Prise du Louvre, le 29 juillet 1830 , massacre des gardes suisses - P5 - Musée Carnavalet.jpg. First edit is upload, second edit is adding the structured data. If I wouldn't do the null edit, it would show an empty template with missing source. Multichill (talk) 21:41, 22 February 2021 (UTC)
- @Multichill: @André Costa (WMSE): Added an empty edit and enabled adding two "participant in" statements. Here are some test edits with the new settings. About the "location of creation", I think it can be more tricky to extract from the photo description automatically. For example a photo depicting a church can be taken in the church itself, or it can be taken from a larger distance, and then it's not appropriate to set the church as the location of creation. Same e.g. with ships photographed from the shore. --Alicia Fagerving (WMSE) (talk) 09:53, 24 February 2021 (UTC)
- @Alicia Fagerving (WMSE): These edits look good. Regarding the location. Don't extract it from the photo description, use the data available on the item. In the first photo you added depicts for Uppland Runic Inscription 327 (Q29715527) so the photo was created in Haga socken (Q10515885) or maybe Sigtuna Municipality (Q216915), you have do decide what's most appropriate for Sweden. That's how I am doing it. Multichill (talk) 11:16, 24 February 2021 (UTC)
- @Multichill: Its a bit unclear to me what the benefit is of having the location of creation (P1071) statement in SDC if it is just mechanically inferred from the depicts statement? Unless it's considered a blocker I would leave it out to unblock the bot request since the plan is to use the results of this upload in an upcoming event. /André Costa (WMSE) (talk) 08:19, 25 February 2021 (UTC)
- To indicate where something was made so later we can do faceted search based on that. No blocker, just quite minor to implement and good to do it in the same edit. Multichill (talk) 11:11, 25 February 2021 (UTC)
- I already wrote about this 10 years ago at User:Multichill/Next generation categories and now filed phab:T275787. Multichill (talk) 16:23, 25 February 2021 (UTC)
- Updated {{Fornminne}} to add Category:Archaeological monuments in Sweden missing SDC depicts and Category:Archaeological monuments in Sweden missing SDC location of creation. Would be nice if you can empty these out! Multichill (talk) 17:24, 25 February 2021 (UTC)
- @André Costa (WMSE): @Multichill: I did some edits with location of creation (P1071). They are extracted from located in the administrative territorial entity (P131) in the Wikidata item of the monument (if the target item is instance of municipality of Sweden (Q127448)).

- @Alicia Fagerving (WMSE): looks good to me! Thanks for the update. I assume you're just going to work your way down Category:Archaeological monuments in Sweden with known IDs? Multichill (talk) 22:28, 2 March 2021 (UTC)
- @Multichill: Yes, as well as the other subcats in Category:Cultural heritage monuments in Sweden with known IDs. --Alicia Fagerving (WMSE) (talk) 05:11, 3 March 2021 (UTC)

We would really appreciate a lot of this could be approved soon, now that we've figured out some issues. We would like to use the material in this upload in some workshops we're arranging :) --Alicia Fagerving (WMSE) (talk) 07:44, 3 March 2021 (UTC)
- Although I don't understand the hurry, I'm going to call this approved now. Please make a slow start just in case anything arises during the run. --Krd 10:46, 5 March 2021 (UTC)
