The images are released under public domain however there are a small number which are not. Any image which is not credited, or credited to one of a particular set of people is PD, see here: http://idtools.org/id/mites/beemites/about_copyright.php (but there are some from Flikr etc used with permission and a small number under copyright, these are attributed in the caption).

So one would have to parse the caption looking for a byline and exclude those probably. This page has an example of the three different types of captions with attribution it may have: http://idtools.org/id/mites/beemites/bmites_lifestages.php

• Is there a template that could be used on the file description pages? Do you think a special template should be created?

Not sure. Should be categorised as Category:Acari.
