@TouN: EuroVelo 4 and 12 run through the entirety of Zeedijk (Middelkerke) [1], making Zeedijk a proper subset of these bicycle routes. Why should Zeedijk not be categorized as part of EuroVelo 4/12 then? --Trougnouf (talk) 16:57, 23 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Trougnouf: I think the photos in these categories should only show the route, and not the towns crossed. If I follow your reasoning for EuroVelo 4, it would be necessary to put Koksijde, Oostende or Zeebrugge. What do you think ? --TouN (talk) 18:33, 23 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@TouN: I agree that the towns should not be subcategories of the Eurovelo routes, because towns contain many roads that are not part of specific routes (so they are not contained within the route), but Zeedijk is a road (categorized as Category:Streets in Middelkerke) that's entirely within these Eurovelo (larger routes). Similarly, categories for a specific street (eg Category:Rue Haute/Hoogstraat, Brussels) contain buildings that do not specifically show the road (eg Category:Hôpital Saint-Pierre/Sint-Pietershospitaal (Brussels)). It may be useful to some people to find what is along a larger route, whether it is a sub-route, a building, or any artifact, by browsing the category tree. --Trougnouf (talk) 18:51, 23 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
If there wasn't a category "Category:Zeedijk (Middelkerke)" to categorize into the Euroroutes, then it would be correct to categorize individual pictures taken on the Zeedijk as Euroroute 4/12; one would be expected to do so when documenting these Euroroutes. Making Zeedijk a sub-category is much cleaner than categorizing individual images. --Trougnouf (talk) 20:40, 23 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
