Similar cases are for instance the frisean language in the Netherlands: frisean municipalities have two names: a dutch and a frisean name. Some municipalities took the dutch name as the offical name and than this dutch name is the entrance at wikipedias; other municipalities took the frisean name as the offical name and than this frisean name is the entrance at wikpedias. So, in accordance, for Brugge/Bruges, my preference is the entrance Brugge, official name. Redirects from Bruges to Brugge will be needed, (because of french and english).Havang 13:14, 29 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Your frisean example is not identical because it is at another level (which doen't mean that the problem is less important). Your example applies indeed if we want to integrate with the frisean, West-Flemish, Limburgian or Walloon wikipedias. The problem from Brugge/Bruges is comparable to the The Hague/Den Haag problem, where it is a complete mess too.

For the people reading dutch, in User_talk:Siebrand#Modified_User_talk:CommonsDelinker.2Fcommands.23Move_request_concerning_Limburg_leads_to_inconsistent_moves_and_naming and mentioned links to Wikifalcon, it shows that I plan to make alternate proposals for the naming. --Foroa 15:29, 29 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
