In Commons the official language is english. So the correct name must be Category:Trentino-Alto Adige/South Tyrol. --DenghiùComm (talk) 04:33, 10 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

 Oppose Formal references (Encarta, Brittanica) refer to Trentino-Alto Adige. Other formal documents seem to refer to "Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol". None of the interwiki's refer to South Tirol, so it makes no sense to introduce another naming variant; if you start translating the one part, you might as well invent translations for Trentino and for Alto Adige. So conclusion for me: leave it as it is or remove de "/Südtirol" suffix as to better correspond with formal encyclopedic references. --Foroa (talk) 17:17, 10 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I have reverted my redirect, but I can not undo the move of images -- which where just a few -- but finally they have to be categorized by cities, municipalities or mountains of... as I have just done for Varena --anro (talk) 11:03, 14 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

For the Trentino-Alto Adige we have the problem of the german speaking part, in italian called "Alto Adige", in german called "Südtirol". Südtirol is translated South Tyrol. Now the official name of the region is "Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol". "Trentino" is not possible to translate, it's the same. I proposed to move the different categories-names of this region in a new category called "Trentino-Alto Adige/South Tyrol". Foroa correctly opposed, because this is not the official name. Dall'Orto say that this name doesn't exist. That is correct: we cannot translate the half of a name and the other half not ! So I changed my opinion. The only possible way is to support the official name: "Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol". --DenghiùComm (talk) 07:38, 15 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
