Communications towers
[edit]I'm not sure how to categorize images of those tall towers which are used for tv and/or radio transmission. There are these two categories for radio towers and tv towers. But how do you distinguish them? Often the tower is used for both. Today I created the category of communications towers.
What do others think: Should one use Category:TV towers, Category:Radio towers or Category:Communications towers ? --Warden 20:30, 17 July 2005 (UTC)
- I think that Category:Communications towers is always the best the other two categoies are subcategories. The towers in both look a little different I think. When there is a tower defined as a TV tower or as a Fernsehturm in the image name or in the description so I take this as the Category. Mit freundlichen Grüßen --Ronaldino 17:58, 10 April 2006 (UTC)
Category:Campaniles Redirect
[edit]Category:Campaniles has recently been pointed to Category:Church towers, and I don't think this is the best thing to do. I believe we should have an organization scheme like this:
Bell Towers > Campaniles (as they are bell towers, but they're a special sub-class)
I suppose my argument comes down to this: Not all Campaniles are Church Towers. UC Berkeley famously has one, and they are by no means a church. Iowa State University and Louisiana State University likewise.
In my mind, we should have multiple categories for these, as it makes it easier to locate the images. If you are only interested in Campaniles, then Church Towers doesn't narrow it down much for you. --Falcorian (talk) 15:20, 23 May 2007 (UTC)
Ein Campanile ist ein freistehender Turm der zwar oft auch ein Kirchturm ist aber eben nicht nur. Daher finde ich daß die Kategorie Campanile wieder als eigenständige categorie geführt werden sollte. Mit freundlichen Grüßen --Ronaldino 15:50, 17 March 2008 (UTC)
