Tower and stockade –> Tower and Stockade Orrlingtalk 20:11, 16 August 2012 (UTC)}}[reply]

I'm not sure why Stockade should be capitalized. It doesn't refer to a specific building, but is a generic term. See "en:Tower and stockade". — Cheers, JackLee talk 08:19, 17 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
This term is a name. It refers to an operation of establishing a series of fortified civil posts, and was coined by the Yishuv pioneers. Hence just as in the case of "Sturm und Drang" or "Peace and Love" we capitalize all nouns in a nickname, unlike, for example, "Demonstrations and protests". Hmmm, not sure. I see use of both Tower and Stockade and tower and stockade on the Internet. To me, it seems just like a descriptive term like cut-and-cover or motte-and-bailey. Not sure Sturm und Drang is a good example, because nouns are always capitalized in German. By the way, "en:Peace and Love" is just a redirect to "en:Peace and love", which is a disambiguation page. — Cheers, JackLee talk 13:07, 17 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I'll leave a message at the village pump inviting comments here. — Cheers, JackLee talk 13:27, 17 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I actually have just left one.. Orrlingtalk 13:41, 17 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
That's true, this was not a good example. However, Tower and Stockade was a movement, a particular periodic national operation unique only to pre-state Israel and hence can't be seen as a general indefinite indication. Linguistically similar to West Bank and International Humanist and Ethical Union (and not "West bank" or "International humanist and ethical union"), this term refers directly to a confined well-placed event/era, not to "towers" and "stockades". Opposition attempt is there baseless. Orrlingtalk 15:53, 17 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I don't dispute that it may have been a movement, but I note that "en:Tower and stockade" says that it was a "settlement method", in which case one could say that it is also a descriptive term. If one wants to describe the movement, shouldn't Tower and Stockade Movement be used instead? However, the category seems to contain files of the structures themselves rather than files relating to the movement (e.g., people involved with the movement). I note that the subcategory "Category:Tower and stockade in Negba" also relates to the structures and not the movement itself. — Cheers, JackLee talk 16:34, 17 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Yes. That's because the primary if not exclusive tangible expression of this period is the structures. This was what you may call a settling movement. It was understandably unique to Israel' history. Orrlingtalk 17:22, 17 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
