[edit]- Oppose. Ticker tape is already plural (see plurale tantum) Andy Dingley (talk) 19:29, 18 October 2010 (UTC)
- Surely? Isn't it rather singulare tantum? --ŠJů (talk) 23:14, 18 October 2010 (UTC)
- Oppose as said above. "Tape" long used for quantities including multiple; "ticker tapes" is a neologism seldom if ever seen in print in the era when the technology was common. Infrogmation (talk) 19:37, 18 October 2010 (UTC)
- For this case, I can understand the plurale tantum argument (one endless stream), but I think that this will not apply to the other forms of tapes, such as the en:Watergate tapes. --Foroa (talk) 06:53, 19 October 2010 (UTC)
- I think, singulare tantum should be used when the term is used as a material name (suitable e. g. for abstract technological schematics), while plural should be used when more individual pieces of tape (e. g. on photographs) are concerned. --ŠJů (talk) 15:42, 20 October 2010 (UTC)
