This category has a kind of silly name which does not fit into our category scheme at all. "... in heraldry" means the motif, and there is no "Saxony" to be seen in these coats of arms at all. --188.98.142.152 12:09, 29 January 2011 (UTC)
- I don't think it's a silly name at all. The term "Saxony" in heraldry is commonly used to represent some recognizable variation of the barry or and sable/sable and or with the bend vert cranceline. See here, for instance. In fact, I plan to implement similar solutions in other cases, such as "France" and "France Ancient", which, in my opinion, improves immensely the current category scheme that often uses ambiguous designations, such as "coat of arms of Saxony". Well, while there are a lot of different "coat of arms of Saxony" (especially when "Saxony" in other fields was used designate a lot of different entities), there is only one "Saxony" in heraldry: the barry shield or and sable/sable and or, with the bend vert cranceline.
- Anyway, if you have a better solution, please say it, something that you have not done yet.-- Darwin Ahoy! 17:21, 29 January 2011 (UTC)
The solution that we had was all right. "Saxony" is not a heraldic figure, but foremost it is a country. If "Saxony" in Royal English heraldry means "Coats of arms of the House of Wettin" or "Coats of arms of the Dukes of Saxony", then be it so, but since the vast majority of coats of arms we have to catgegorize here are not English, but German, hence it would be wrong to use a very special "taxonomy" that is not understandable at all in any German context. --FA2010 (talk) 15:21, 2 February 2011 (UTC)
